Maxxcam viewer
Welcome
UPDATE.....January 4, 2008
Maxxcam 1.2 is now ready for download. This version has one change....a repeating playlist for the Djuma viewer to keep it attempting to connect or reconnect. The playlist is located here at this site, but the Maxxcam still runs from your desktop. Those wishing to have a better chance of seeing Djuma should discard their old Maxxcam viewer and download this new one.
In the near future I still plan a full rewrite to include Elephant Plains.

November 25, 2007....update news...
The current rumor floating around is that Africam will bringing it's Elephant Plains streaming cam online in a week or two. I have been delaying the rewrite of the Maxxcam until this happens. When it does, I will be putting out the Maxxcam 2.0. This cam will have a couple upgrades:
1. A viewer for the Elephant Plains cam.
2. A looping playlist for the Djuma cam to assist getting a connection.
I will keep you posted....

October 30, 2007....temporary update....
Africam has changed their stream URL from Wavelit to their own servers. Those using Maxxcam viewer 1.0 will notice that the Africam player no longer works, but the Djuma and Pete's Pond do. I had planned a full scale rewrite of the maxxcam page, but I am not ready with that yet. In the meantime, I have edited the 1.0 page to incorporate the new URL to allow the Africam player to work. This temporary page can be downloaded now until I have the new full rewrite in place...and will only work as long as Africam doesn't rotate their URLs.
Download Temp Maxxcam Viewer 1.01 here:
To use the new page...download and unzip like before. You can just throw away the old one by deletion. Since nothing was installed....nothing needs to be uninstalled.

October 26, 2007......UPDATE COMING !!!
According to the rumor mill...Africam will be switching its stream provider in the coming days. When this happens, the Africam part of the maxxcam will cease working and I will have to make a new Maxxcam viewer to incorporate the new URLs. At that time I also plan a few other upgrades to adress some issues that users have brought up...mainly that the viewer is too wide for smaller screens and causes a horizontal scroll. In the new version, I will stack the cams...but there is no point in making a new viewer until Africam stabalizes its feed. The new viewer will follow shortly after the switchover and after I have the new URLs. Thank you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have created an HTML page that combines several wildlife webcams into one single page for ease of viewing. Please note that viewing Pete's Pond requires that you have either Real Player or Real Alternative installed on your system. I personally reccomend Alternative over Real Player since it is much less invasive. Many systems already come equipped with Real.
With Real Alternative, you will need to take the full version, as the "lite" version cannot handle streaming media.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAXXCAM:
Dowload the HTML document here:
Save the zip file. Once downloaded...extract it using any zip utility....and place it on your desktop (or anywhere else that you can find it easily). The resulting file is a simple HTML document like any webpage you might see on the internet. NOTHING will install on your computer. When you want to view the cams....simply double-click it and your browser will run the page. The cams should start to load automatically. Once the cams are running, you will want to refrain from using the browser controls like refresh and stop for that page....since this will act on all the cams. You will want to operate the individual cams with their own player controls for stopping, starting, etc. Depending on your sound card....you may need to mute one or more of the cams and adjust volume. Best results is to mute all but one at a time. If you want to hear something on another cam...mute the one you are listening to and turn on the other. I have personally been able to hear them all at once, but not all systems can do this and it gets confusing. Screenshot below...
