UPDATE 6.24.08 Hiya.... As some of you may have noticed in recent days...you may have gotten hit with a password prompt while trying to view this cam. Some are able to get around with it a cancel, others locked up....and some didn't get it at all. This problem was occurring at all viewers aimed at the South African server...including the one at WildEarth website itself. The password prompt is not being issued by my server, it is coming from South Africa. Graham Wallington at WE is aware of that problem. There is nothing I can do from this end. If you continue to have problems, you will have to use the US server at WildEarth. I would like to take a moment and get everyone up to speed on the near future. It is my understanding that WE will be switching their broadcast format from the current Windows Media to Adobe Flash. I have no details on when, which servers, etc. In any case....once the South African server switches to Flash, this viewer will no longer work. You will need to use viewer links provided by WE when they move to the new system. I have every confidence that WildEarth will make this transition as smooth as possible. I am glad this viewer came in handy for all the cam fans and feel free to use it for as long as it works. I know many appreciated the repeating playlist function which saved hours worth of clicking and I have also got rave reviews because I enlarged the image by 25% over what WE has...and enabled right-click menus. Thanks for all the kind words.....and I want to post a link for WildEarth's new forum where you can go and get direct information in the future.
I can be found here:
Update 1.26.2008 As some of you are aware. WE as added a second server that can handle an additional 1000 slots. This viewer currently still points to the old 80-slot server. If you cannot connect here, you should try this new server: http://www.onenetplace.net/Wildearth/Wild%20Earth.htm I have not yet determined what will become of this viewer. It was created to help people get into WE, but if the new 1000 slots are enough....then this viewer is not needed. I could aim this viewer (or create another) that is aimed at the new server, but the question remains if it is necessary. I will be monitoring some of the forums where this cam is discussed and get a feeling whether any action is required or wanted. Update 1.21.08 It has come to my attention that some MAC users have difficulty with the viewer or are unable to use it all. I know next to nothing about MACs but it appears that the bare minimum you need is Microsft for MAC softwares including....Media Player and Internet Explorer. And even then...the player may not be stable. As near as I can figure the problem lies with the ASX playlist that makes the player do what it does....repeatedly try to connect. The ASX file is a Microsoft Media proprietary format, so it comes as no surprise that it isn't designed to be swallowed by MACs too easily. In the future...should I come across the necessary knowledge to create a viewer that uses, perhaps, Quicktime and a playlist...then I will make second, MAC-friendly viewer. Right now...it is beyond my feable skills. Sorry..... Also....in recent days, most likely due to the Mapogo/Nkuhuma drama....traffic to this page has increased dramatically. Getting one of the 80 slots is tougher than ever. If you aren't having too much luck with this viewer, it isn't the page. It's because so many people are trying to get in on the lottery now. My traffic alone indicates two to three times as many people as before. UPDATE: 1.11.08 I have removed the angry personal messages I had here recently. I'm done throwing a tantrum now (sorry about that) thanks to all the kind words that you folks have sent me. Thank you very much...they made me feel much better about doing this stuff. It is obvious now that many, many more people appreciate the things I did, than there are who did not.
UPDATE 1.7.08 Per request by Graham, WildEarth management, I have added links and logo to this page for both the WildEarth blog and Djuma game reserve website. Both links will open in new windows. This was a reasonable request that I am happy to grant. |

This player is equipped with a repeating playlist. It will attempt to connect until it either does so, is stopped manually...or a computer or network glitch interrupts it. It is designed for people wanting to see the Djuma game drives, but cannot afford to sit for hours manually clicking their player. If a connection is lost, the player will automatically attempt to reconnect, but is still dependant on available viewing slots (which is still only 80 world-wide). If the player reads "Connecting to media", it is doing it's job and no action is required. If it reads "stopped" or "ready"...it needs to be restarted. The viewer is designed to be "fire and forget" meaning it can be turned on and left alone while the user is free to to go about their business. Please do not abuse this viewer. Do not open mulitple pages and please do not use it unless you intend to watch. Be courtious to your fellow cam viewers. Thank you.... |
